Current Inventory
Our History:
Outdoor Equipment Distributors is a family owned business, started in 1976 by Ted & Vicki Piekos. Back then, we ran it part-time, out of a garage in our back yard in Lewiston, NY. Ted had a long history in the saw chain business and was able to procure the Sachs Dolmar distributorship for the entire United States. As business increased, we decided to take the leap, and Ted left his full-time job. We bought a cold storage building in Cambria in 1979, and slowly converted it into a retail & service space. We opened in our current location in 1982, adding Wheel Horse and Stihl to our lineup, as well as many other products later. The shop building has expanded twice, and a second structure was added (but we still don’t have enough room).
Our Family:
Ted, Vicki, and Lauri Piekos were here in the beginning, and Ray Smeal started working here soon after the move, while he was still in high school. Just a few years later, his brother John joined us and they soon became part of the Outdoor Equipment family. They have grown with us and, especially since Ted passed away in 2005, have been a large part of our success. They are our go-to guys here, and while we may be biased, we think we have the most knowledgeable power equipment & small engine team in the area.
